Monte Lake Texoma Bass and his sons Seth and Ryan fished Lake Texoma Wednesday. It was real windy and we got beat up in our little 16 foot Cajun. But Seth came up with this beauty of a Largemouth Bass. He caught it as we were chasing sand bass/stripers under the birds on a chrome Model-A. It weighed 4.5 pounds and it made our day. See the bloody tail? It was in about 8 feet of water off the main lake point on the north end of Cedar Mills Marina in the Big Mineral Arm of the lake.

We decided to go to Texoma because we kept reading reports that May was the best month of the year for Texoma stripers. We had to see for ourselves if this month could top our December trips. We caught a few sand bass but no stripers. We must have been doing something wrong, though, because another boat joined us under the birds and those two guys immediately started catching striper after striper. It looked like they were throwing white sassy shads on a 1 oz jig. Well, thats what we were throwing too. We would have asked them what their secret was but they were way too busy catching fish to talk.

We will try it again this weekend if the wind will ever lay down.
