Monte Seth Green has been on vacation all week and copius amounts of fishing have been had. Monte & Seth took the first fishing expedition of the vacation. We anchored off on a brush pile in Johnson Branch on Lake Ray Roberts. We had 2 dozen crappie sized minnows with us but soon found that we needed more. Alot more! The wind would blow the boat off the brush pile and we would catch nothing. Then the wind would blow us on top of the brush pile and look out baby it would be one crappie after another. It was real fun!

Then Monte spent a couple of days in Fairfield, Tx fishing with friend and fishing buddy Roy (Rock) Hudman. We got blanked on Lake Fairfield so we headed to Richland Chambers. The wind was blowing 90 miles per hour so we decided to launch at Fisherman's Point and crappie fish out of the wind. We caught a few but it was pretty slow. The next day we decided to fish for sand bass and hybrid bass on Richland but the wind held us at bay again. And we once again found ourselves crappie fishing the same place with even worse results. It was still fun though. Its always fun to go fishin!

When Monte arrived back home school was out for summer and the kids were hyped. Monte, Ryan, and Will decided to celebrate by going on a night trip to Lake Ray Roberts. We arrived just prior to dusk and before we could launch the boat we saw the sand bass schooling. We chased them and caught a few until the frenzy was over. They are chasing extremely small bait and you have to use very small jigs to catch em. We then anchored over our brush pile in Johnson Branch, put out our crappie light and immediately started catching fish - for about half an hour. Then nothing! There was bait gathered around the light alright but no fish. We were patient until midnight then we decided to try some bassing on some of the points in Johnson branch. No takers there either so we headed home arouind 1 AM.

We hope to do more sand bassing and maybe some more brush pile fishing next week on Ray Roberts. See ya out there!
