July 20, 2001 - Monte's Metroplex Fishing

Monte and Ryan went to Lake Ray Roberts on Thursday evening. We had 2 dozen crappie sized minnows with us but all we caught was a dink catfish and a perch. Much to Monte's chagrin, Ryan caught both of em! We launched at the Pecan Creek ramp and tied off on the 6th column (from the east end) under the Hwy 3002 bridge. We figured that would be a good spot because the river channel runs right through there. The fishing was not that good but the cool breeze was blowin and the bridge was providing good shade. Monte stretched out on the back deck and nearly fell asleep, until Ryan caught the catfish.

We still haven't made it to Texoma but Monte will be on vacation until August 1st. Perhaps a trip could be squeezed in between our offshore fishing adventure in Galveston and our planned trip to Turner Falls.
