Monte Rock with a Lake Fairfield Bass headed to Fairfield again and fished with long time fishin buddy Roy (Rock) Hudman. We fished the hot water discharge area and caught 4 nice bass in about 2 1/2 hours. They were all caught on bubble gum colored trick worms. Most of them were in the back of the reeds and it was challenging (and REAL fun) to hoss them out.

Monte was using a black/blue jig but the fish were not interested. Roy, however, was trying every worm in the box. The second cast with the bubble gum colored trick worm a fished swirled on it. Monte told Roy that if he catches one with the trick worm, he would wast no time switching baits. Roy's fourth cast had him fighting one but it spit out the hook and we considered it a "quick release".

By Monte with the bubble gum colored worm and the bass that fell for it now Monte had swiched baits and we were both throwing the same bubble gum colored trick worm into the reeds. A couple of casts later Roy had a 17 1/2 inch bass in the boat. A little while later he caught another one about the same size. After another little while Monte had a 15 incher in the boat. Not long after that we saw a big swirl clear in the back of the reeds in a small clearing. Monte got to it first and was rewarded with a 17 inch bass. It was REAL fun getting him through the reeds.

4 fish in about 2 1/2 hours of fishing (4:00 - 6:30 pm) is pretty good considering there had been three tournaments that day (Saturday) and the air temperature was in the mid fourties. The bank we were fishing was to the left of the discharge as you look into the discharge. We were using no weights and 4/0 Owner hooks. We threw them as far into the reeds as we could and worked them like you would a fluke. We got hung up alot but we also caught fish.

See you out there.
