Here Monte with a big crappie is a picture of a large crappie Monte caught during his vacation earlier this month. He had forgotten all about it until his buddy Rock emailed him yesterday. We were fishing under a bridge at Richland Chambers and it was the only fish caught on that trip. Can't even remember how much it weighed now. But Monte vividly remembers waving it in Rock's face (hehe).

Ryan and Monte fished Ray Roberts yesterday evening after nearly a month off the water. It felt good to get the boat wet again but the fish still were not biting for us. We launched at the Sanger ramp where we found "the man" (game warden) working overtime in the parking lot. A simple tip of the hat and we were on our way. About an hour later we were slabing for sandies on the western end of the dam when, poof! There he was again. "The man" was pulling up beside us. But a simple wave of the hand and on he moved without stopping.

An hour or so after that found us bass fishing Bonny Pond when all of a sudden this guy in another boat starts yelling and screaming as though he has caught the biggest fish of his life. Their boat was anchored on the brush pile at cates point and we couldn't see him from where we were. Monte was tempted to crank up the big motor and go see what was going on. Ryan on the other hand said "Naw, lets keep fishin." Well this guy just wouldn't quit and it really had our curiosity going. Then he just abruptly stopped.

A few minutes later a blue flashing light caught Monte's eye and there this boat was, drifting in the mouth of Bonny Pond with "the man's" boat right next to it. "The man" even boarded the vessel. But by the time they had drifted accross the cove "the man" shoved off and went the other way. He had passed Monte by a second time. It was getting dark by then and we battened down the hatches and headed out of the cove. We went right by this boat and the two guys in it looked really beat down. We decided not to talk to them because they really looked upset. "The man" has a way of doing that to ya sometimes.

Anyway, we headed right back to the Sanger ramp and guess who is there waiting to greet us. That's right, "the man"! Monte recently turned over a new leaf to go to church every sunday and to make sure the kids do too. It's already paying off! He was very friendly and all he asked was to look in the live wells. Didn't shake us down. Just said he was looking for a lost boat but he found it and everything was ok.

Good fishin everybody!
