Well Monte's vacation didn't turn out like he planned. We never made it to the gulf coast. We never made it to Turner Falls. But we did manage a weekend trip to Texoma where we got blanked yet again!

Our vacation blues began with a phone call from Monte's father in law declaring he was doing us all a favor by keeping the kids in a Florida basketball camp an extra week. Rather than jumping for joy we started calling hotels and fishing party boats to rearrange our reservations. Thats when our contact with the party boat told us the fishing was really bad right now. That killed the Galveston trip. Thats also when we decided that Mr. pocketbook was right and we couldn't afford a vacation right now anyway. So our vacation was mostly just kicking back at the house and taking it easy by the pool.

Our weekend trip to Texoma had Monte and his two oldest sons, Seth and Will, renting a cabin at Grandpappy Point Resort which was great. Saturday evening we fished table top, soldier creek, and the north island. We came to loathe the big yacht type boats due to their massive wake that will swamp a bass boat if you're not careful. Sunday morning we were back at table top before first light. No fish so we headed to washita point where we found a massive boat show. No fish so we headed to willow springs and found another boat show. No fish so we struck out on our own and marked fish in 40 foot of water. We threw out a marker and held the boat in place with the trolling motor. We slabbed this area, and used shiners with shad oil but no takers. The graph looked like we should have been foul hooking them. We worked our way back to the boat show at washita point and finally saw two different boats that were downrigging catch one striper each. None for us though. Or anyone else that we saw. We ended the day (around 10:00) throwing topwaters at the shoreline at table top where we had a couple of blow ups on a zara spook but could not get a hook up.

Monte has all but given up on serious fishing until this fall. But he will most likely take Sidney, his 4 year old daughter, bank fishing for perch on Lake Ray Roberts this weekend. Surely ol' Mont can catch a perch!
