Monte got blanked
again! That is two trips in a row that I have not caught
a thing. However, the spotlight is all on Roy (again). He caught 9 Bass
in all. We were fishing Fairfield Lake this weekend and Roy just had
a field day. This one was 20 inches and weighed in at 4 pounds (we were
using my scales this time).
Now, I was in the same boat, using the same worm, the same weight, the
same size line and
working the bait the same way. But the most I had all day was a couple
of nibbles. Which was better than my trip to Ray Roberts last weekend
where I didn't even get a nibble.
Most of these fish were caught in the cove on the north end of the dam.
There is a point at the mouth
of the cove which has deep water access and
is covered with cattails (as you can see in the background of the 1st
photo). There is hydrilla out another 10 feet or so. We would throw a
red bloodline wringworm right up against the cattails and work it back
to the boat.
The fish would not hit it hard at all. In fact, they would play with it
and play with it. You just had to
wait until they ran off with it. There
were a number of times that we would get a nibble, then another nibble
then nothing. I'm not sure if the fish were nested up and simply
moving the worm off their nest or something else. But they were not
biting normally.
Kinda hurts a guys pride to get skunked when the other fellow in the
boat is tearing em up. But thats OK, I was still out there having fun.
Kudos to the Rock!
