Monte

and Ryan woke up early last weekend and went to Ray Roberts. We launched at the marina and actually found shad. We had a couple dozen in no time then headed for the weed beds west of Wolf Island.

The shad were in pretty bad shape by the time we got there. Probably because I didn't wash the bucket out the last time I had minnows in it. The fish were not cooperating anyway and we caught nothing.

We had some more excitment, however, when our steering went out. We found ourselves on the opposite side of the lake from where our truck was parked. We limped the boat in to the Pilot Point boat ramp and waited for someone to come in so we could bum a ride to our truck. That took about three hours. We passed the time by fishing for perch, extremely small bass, and of course a piece of a car.

Monte will be mechanicing again as soon as he figures out how to pay for a new steering assembly.
