Seth,

Ryan, and I got up early on Saturday (4:30 AM) and fished Lake Ray Roberts. We launched next to the Marina then tossed the throw net around there for some live bait but came up empty. At daybreak we started trolling the triple rig, that
Jake Jacoby recommends, on the flats close to the Island near the Dam.

Nothing there so we trolled the main lake point and Johnson Branch Islands. No luck there either. But Ryan caught the first fish, a pretty Black Bass, between the Islands and the boat ramp in Johnson Branch Cove on a Castaic threadfin shad. Its hard to see but it is in the picture here.

While taking pictures and releasing the fish we got blown across Johnson Branch Cove into Johnson Cove. We never left it! Seth caught sand bass after sand bass with the only white Model-A in the boat. Couldn't get him to share either. I caught a couple on a Blue/Chrome Shad Rap but once I handed it over to Ryan they stopped hitting it.

We trolled in a big circle inside the cove and when we went across a hump on the north side the fish would hit. They wouldn't hit if you came back across the hump the other way. Only from south to north. Never saw them on the hummingbird either.
