The Boat Dock

Fishing

June 15, 1999
The Offshore Galveston Fishing Vacation family took a vacation to Galveston last week. The men of the family managed a bay fishing trip and 2 offshore deep sea fishing trips. It was great!

We went bay fishing first on the Cavalier Party Boat. We were on the side of the boat which turned out to be a bad spot. Actually, anywhere but the back of the boat was bad. Everyone on the back of the boat caught huge Redfish. We only caught hardhead catfish. We still considered the trip a success due to Seth (my oldest) and I not getting sick. We all had on the patch. Seth and I even had on wrist bands.

The
Galveston Vacation - Yeah Baby! next day we went deep sea fishing on The New Buccaneer party boat. The best part was that Seth and I didn't get sick. We caught snapper, king fish, bonita, angel fish, trigger fish, and shark. The deck hands were great! The boat was big and roomy too.

The day after that we went deep sea fishing yet again aboard the Texsun II party boat. The boat was smaller, the deck hands lacked interpersonal skills, and there were too many people. Offshore Galveston Vacation But they put us on more fish and bigger fish. The captain told us how to set the bait for shark and it paid off for me. I caught a 25 pounder that was REAL fun to catch. Will (my 13 year old) caught 2 big king fish and a 15 pound shark. Ryan (my 11 year old) caught a couple of bonita and got a steel leader broke off after a long battle with something BIG. Seth (my 14 year old) caught bonita and one king fish.

Will foul hooked a live cigar minnow and gave it to the woman next to us because he wasn't rigged for king fishing at the time. She hooked up with a nice king fish in less than 30 seconds. I wonder if the tackle shops sell live cigar minnows. I'll check it out next time.
