February 9, 1999 - Monte's Metroplex Fishing

February 9, 1999 My oldest son, Seth and I took a short trip to Marine Creek Lake and had a pretty good time. This is a very small lake next to the Northwest campus of Tarrant County Jr College. It is directly across the Freeway (Loop 820) from Meachum Airport in Ft. Worth.

Seth caught 2 of the three fish that we found. He caught 1 Sand Bass and 1 Black Bass. He also lost a fish that spit out the hook during the fight. I got outfished again but managed to land one Sand Bass. Chrome rattle traps is what they wanted.

We found all of these on the main lake point on the south end of the lake. But the big news of the day was another angler near us found what appears to be a tank dam running from that point towards the 5th telephone pole from the boat ramp on the west side of the lake. He caught fish after fish working a worm along there. We didn't want to horn in on his action but we will go back there next time.
