We

finally scored on Texoma. Ryan and Monte arrived at Cedar Mills Marina on the Big Mineral arm of the lake around 3:00 PM. Several schools of birds were going nuts in several locations. We chased them into the mouth of Walnut Creek. Ryan caught this brute right off the bat. It was the first one of the day.

We came to Texoma last week and got blanked. A guide said it could have been due to us using half ounce jigs. He advised us to use 1 ounce jigs and it paid off.

We put 4 inch Glo Sassy Shads on 1 ounce jig heads. The birds made it real easy to find the fish too. When the fish moved so did the birds. We only fished for a couple of hours but we were real busy for those 2 hours. There were so many schools of birds it was hard to decide which swarm of birds to fish under. They were everywhere.

If you are suffering from fishing fever and unable to do any good on your home lake, consider a road trip to Texoma. The locals say this is the time of year to catch a whopper of a Striper.
