Thank

goodness for sand bass! Seth, Ryan and I rose at 3:30 in the morning and tried some live bait bassin at Ray Roberts. We launched at the Marina and started throwing the cast net. After about an hour and a half we had netted 8 shad. By then the Marina was open so we bought 2 dozen minnows. By the time we arrived at the weed beds west of Wolf Island all 8 shad were dead. The bass didn't even give the minnows a second look.

Around

8:30 we headed to the dam and found big sand bass schooled up near Culp Island. We saw a man and his wife trolling an area back and forth. They were having a real good time catching sandie after sandie. Once we stopped and looked at the depth finder we saw why. They were everywhere! We saw this big thick blob from 10 to 20 feet deep. I just grinned and told the boys to put on a slab. We went home a couple of hours later with 40 or so sand bass. Some of them were very big. At times you could just leave the slab on the bottom and the fish would pick it up and take off. Man it was fun!
